Texas Universities Come Together to Develop Novel Nanoparticle for Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment

Rice University, Baylor College, and the University of Texas to develop approach to test the specially engineered nanoparticle

The preclinical testing program, which will be implemented over the next five years, will be funded through $1.8 million grant from the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer program. The research team will include scientists and researchers from Rice University's Laboratory for Nanophotonics (LANP), the radiology department at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The group will investigate how well the nanoparticles work as: imaging agents, cell targeting, body testing and treatment before and after the procedure, and performance as therapeutic agents.
